• About our fabrics

The Magniberg fabrics have a personal signature where nothing is left to chance. They are developed together in close collaboration with carefully selected mills in Portugal and Italy to receive a top-of-the-line fabric with the perfect balance between yarns and thread-counts.

The range spans from fine Supima® cotton to natural linen and delicate lace. It's OEKO-TEX® certified (except from our two decorative styles Rose and Nude Metallic). There is a unique passion, a real passion, to offer the best possible product to get a good nights sleep and a distinguished touch on the bedroom. When you see our fabrics — they speak for themselves.

    YARN, THREAD COUNT & GSM
When we talk about our cotton we often talk about thread count and yarn. Thread count is how many threads that are woven horizontal and vertical per square inch of fabric. The number referring to yarn is the number of threads laying flat per square inch and a method of measuring the quality of the material, basically how fine the yarn is.

A high thread count is often associated with high quality, but it's not always true, sometimes thread count is being multiplied by two or three when using 2-ply or 3-ply yarn. The only time you should value thread count as a quality stamp is for fabric made of 100% cotton in single-ply weaves – like the Magniberg Cotton.

Our linen and jersey sheets are given a rating based on their GSM (grams per square metre). Since it’s a lighter fabric we don’t want to be woven tightly, a high tread count doesn’t matter, if you weave our linen or jersey with a high thread count it would loose its characteristics and be stiff and uncomfortable.

The Magniberg linen is made of 100% European natural flax linen with a GSM of 125 – a lightweight, soft and durable fabric. Our Jersey fabric, an ultra-soft 160 GSM organic cotton jersey fabric remembering of a worn-out T-shirt.

There's no comparison to be made between GSM and thread count, it's different tools to measure different fabrics. GSM measures the weight of a fabric, while thread count is the number of single threads woven to make that fabric. Neither thread count or GSM tells the exact quality of the bedlinen, but it gives you an indication of the touch and feel. In the end the it’s the raw fibre and yarn quality makes the real differens.

  • Wash & Care

We create bedwear with longevity, based on craftsmanship and a pure passion for textiles. We encourage our customers to wash our garments in colder temperatures to be gentle on the environment and to make them last even longer.

We advise our customers to wash all our bedwear at 40°C and to hang dry. This will make the fabrics last longer and maintain its natural lustre.
It is possible to tumble dry at medium heat and to wash at 60°C or warmer, but we advise our customers only to do it if hard stains occur, or under special circumstances such as post a viral disease.

By washing at 40 and let hang dry you produce 4 times less CO2 than in by washing in 60 and tumble dry.

Our products are made of natural fibers that are subject to changes in shape over time, including shrinkage.
You can take steps to minimize this by washing at colder temperatures and avoiding the tumble drier. It can also help reshaping the product while it's wet before allowing it to air dry.

Our style Nude in organic jersey should be washed separate or with similar colours. The style is garment dyed to achieve a certain look, due to this garment dyed process it will bleed in wet conditions.

For our decorative styles “Nude Metallic” and “Rose” we advise you to hand wash or dry clean.

  • Jersey

The Magniberg jersey fabric is as soft as a broken-in T-shirt and made out of 100% organic cotton knitted into 160 GSM with a traditional apparel knit technique. The jersey is garment-dyed to give it rumpled elegance and to fade beautifully over time with washes and wear. The feeling of sleeping in jersey bedwear is something special, it is super soft and caring. The jersey is exclusively available in our style Nude, which is our homage to youth the importance of the t-shirt in every culture and subculture.

Organic cotton is produced and certified to organic agricultural standards. Its production sustains the health of soils, ecosystems and people by using natural processes rather than artificial inputs. Organic cotton farming does not allow the use of toxic chemicals or GMOs (genetically modified organisms). Instead, it combines tradition, innovation and science to benefit the shared environment and promote a good quality of life for all involved.

Garment-dye is a technique of dying fabric were the garment is sewn before it’s dyed. You flip the conventional process around which means that the bedwear is made, then dyed. This gives our garment-dyed pieces a subtle shift in colour, and it enables us to achieve a softer, broken-in feel on our jersey fabric

The Magniberg jersey is knitted in Portugal due to the country’s long heritage and culture in producing home textiles, we have selected our mill carefully and creating the fabrics in close collaboration to achieve the perfect balance in our products.

  • Mohair Wool

“A blanket should be a thing of comfort, of beauty even. It should be more… softer, heavier,
fluffier and decorative. When we found the mohair blankets by Lena and her small family
owned company I knew we had found the one, the origial. We just had to work with her.”
    – Bengt Thornefors, founder of Magniberg

The mohair blankets itself is something extra. Magniberg has worked with Lena Rewell Textile
Studio, a family-owned mill that has been refining the craft of hand weaving since 1962, to
create The Lady, using Magniberg’s Wall Street pinstripe as a reference in design. Every detail is handmade, the weaving, the fringes and the
brushing is done with natural cones one blanket at a time.

To maintain the fluffiness of your blanket brush it from time to time. The product will loose some fluff when brushing it, but that is nothing to worry about.

If your blanket needs to be cleaned use dry clean only.
