Name: Zoe Latta
Age: 34
Profession: Designer
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Questionnaire: Zoe Latta
Describe yourself in a single sentence?
– Eagerly in search of wonder.
What was your last thought before falling asleep last night?
– I was thinking about yarn last night.
What would you never do in bed?
– Eating warm food in bed seems nasty to me.
If you could give your younger self any advice, what would it be?
– It’ll all get done eventually!
What “unexpected” talent do you have?
– One thumb is shorter than the other. I am horribly afraid of stickers. Although I haven't touched an instrument in years I can play the penny whistle, accordion, flute, oboe, clarinet and piano.
Who has had the largest influence on your work except yourself?
– Jay Latta (my dad), Mike Eckhaus, Susan Cianciolo, Octavia Butler, Rosemary Trockel or Joanna Newsom.
How do you know a project is worth realizing?
– If it seems not possible, overwhelming, not fun… then it probably won't happen. If I feel like I intuitively want to make it happen, it will get done.
What historical event fascinates you the most?
– The Bauhaus closing. I don’t know if it fascinates me but I sadly think of it often.
To what extent do you trust people?
– A lot… what's the point in not?
What is your favourite book and why?
– "Day of the Locusts". I love how passionate the characters are… how much they care about their meaningless causes… how futile everything feels but they stick with it.
Is talent something you’re born with or something you can learn?
– 1,000,000% something you can learn. But you have to work hard and be persistent. And not take it so seriously.
What is your most twisted fantasy?
– After I retire, as a senior citizen, I will become a folk musician again and begin a new life serenading.
What do you think about sports?
– I wish there were more possibilities for adults to play sports. I’m fairly ambivalent towards major league sporting events, but as for games, teamwork and playing in general, I adore it all!
Who would you like to be stuck in an elevator with?
– My son in 60 years. I’ll probably be dead and he can tell me how his life went.
Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
– I love sleeping in your sheets.
